Our old farm/work truck began belching smoke in June of this year. Granted, Old Blue’s not much to look at, and we do have three other, newer and much nicer-looking vehicles, but we depend on that old truck for hauling firewood, brush, critters/food/hay…etc.… Even though the vehicle is too old to require emission testing, we are sensitive about not blowing clouds of polluting exhaust if there’s something we can do about it. We took Old Blue to a local automotive repair facility to have the blowing smoke problem repaired. That shop had it, off and on, for over a month this summer and did several thousand dollars of “repairs” which failed to solve the belching smoke problem, all accompanied by promises of “we’ll call you” that were never honored. The third time was definitely not the charm and so we took our business elsewhere. University Chevron does all the routine service and maintenance on our newer Subaru and over the years we’ve come to know it to be a business of integrity and Troy Thomas to be a man of honor. We explained the truck problems and history of attempted repairs and scheduled a provisional service appointment. University Chevron’s technical repair staff’s motto is “If we can’t fix it, we won’t.” True to their word, that same afternoon Troy called to say the issue was not within their expertise and referred us. We dropped off the truck there on Tuesday morning, they called that same morning with the diagnosis; the authorized repair was completed with truck ready for pick up the next morning. We’ve been driving it several hours now, it sounds great and best of all, NO SMOKE! Finally! The correct problem has been identified and repaired. Sincere Thanks! to Troy and all the service staff at University Chevron. It has been a great pleasure being your customer and entrusting our vehicles to your care. You give excellent customer service
